Charles is a commercial litigator with experience handling a wide range of complex civil litigations and regulatory proceedings, including matters concerning securities, antitrust, contract disputes, bankruptcy, anti-money laundering, data security and privacy, and employment law. He has represented corporations and institutions in the financial services, technology, and healthcare sectors, as well as individuals and members of special committees of companies’ boards of directors. He also maintains a robust pro bono practice representing clients in civil rights litigation, post-conviction and parole proceedings, and voting and election law matters.
Prior to joining Fishkin Lucks, Charles was an associate in the litigation department of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. During that time, Charles served a ten-month secondment with the Litigation and Regulatory Proceedings Group at Goldman Sachs.
Charles received his law degree from Columbia Law School, where he was recognized as a James Kent Scholar and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served as a staff editor of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law. While in law school, Charles served as an extern in the chambers of Judge Nicholas G. Garaufis of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York and as an intern in the chambers of New York County Supreme Court Justice Gerald Lebovits. Charles received his undergraduate degree from the George Washington University, summa cum laude.
He is admitted to practice in New York, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
